The Ultimate Travel Festival - Berlin 28-30 and Live Online

By Roadjunky, Posted Dec 15, 2009

Cannes? Sundance? Forget those losers. The first ever Road Junky Travel Film Festival is here.

It’s been great to see the community growing on Road Junky as travelers around the world can connect, share tips and get perspectives undiluted by the consumer travel industry.

But it’s not enough to do it online.

So in Berlin, May 28-30, we’re hosting the Road Junky Travel Film Festival to bring hundreds of crazy travelers together under one roof. Backpackers, hitchhikers, explorers, pilgrims and vagabonds are all heading towards Berlin to celebrate the spirit of getting on the road.

Which way is Berlin?

The festival this year has the focus of travel documentaries – five minute films shot by road junkies everywhere and feature length docs by film makers deep into their path of showing us images that change the way we see the world.

During the day there will be talks from the likes of Ludovic Hubler who will talk about his epic 5 year journey hitchhiking around the world, plus talks on traveling without money, studying with Mexican shamans, working around the world and living in Mongolia, amongst other topics.

Then before the films we’ll have storytelling on stage from travelers with outrageous tales to tell, before we sit back to watch the evening’s films. Then when we’ve been filled up with inspiration we let it all out again as the night kicks off with Berlin’s hottest swing bands and DJ’s.

In addition there will be a photography exhibition, body painting, juggling, jams between traveling musicians and a whole bunch of other things that we haven’t thought of yet. Any ideas?

Berlin is the only place to be this May 28-30 but if you oceans, commitments or a bad astrological forecast stops you from coming, you can also watch the festival live online as we stream the talks, stories and films to road junkies all around the world.
