Thousands of people washing tons of dirty laundry in public. Well, this is Bombay
Parasher documents the traditional Dhobi Ghats in Mumbai, India, the outdoor laundry where 20,000 washermen and women thrash clothes to death against stone to beat out all those curry stains.
One is reminded of Mark Twain’s quote about the dhoti, the traditional cloth worn around the waist, observiing that ‘_the dhoti is an ingenius device used to break rocks’.
