Phuket

Phuket is one of those places that tourism has truly destroyed. The natural topography of the area is beautiful, with white sand beaches sitting under the equatorial sun being lapped by the warm breezes of the Indian ocean.

Unfortunately, it’s a true paradise lost. Countless Irish pubs and Scandinavian restaurants selling overpriced beer and greasy food pollute the town. The worst of the European holiday-making crowd litter the area, drinking incessantly into the morning and screwing the rampant prostitutes. The area is utterly lacking in healthy things to do, and is far too expensive.

A guesthouse on Patong beach is more expensive than in Bangkok, and food is outrageous. The main town of Phuket is a much better alternative, with cheaper places to stay and plenty of food stalls with delicious Thai food. In reality, there are a lot of nicer places to spend your time in Thailand…
