Travel to Copacabana, Bolivia – Nowhere Near Rio

Copacabana is a nice town just before the border with Peru, situated on the shores of Lake Titicaca. Most travellers spend a day or two in the town and a night on the Isla del Sol, an over-hyped guidebook island. It’s a nice town with a good vibe, however, and many travellers stay much longer.

The lake is incredible. It’s a massive freshwater lake flanked by huge snow-capped mountains. From the boat ride heading towards the Isla del Sol there is a breathtaking view of the Cordillera Real. On a very clear day, it is even possible to see the Cordillera Apolobamba, eight hours away by car.

The town itself sees a lot of travellers, and there is a decent budget travel industry established. There are several cool bars with live music and a lot of Argentineans make it this far north. It’s a good place to score weed for those who are looking. Ask at the bars and you should have luck in no time.
