Visit San Fernando during Easter

Possibly the flattest city in the world, San Fernando is the capital of Apure state, set in the heart of the cattle plains of the Llanos. Home to the tastiest beef north of Argentina, visit San Fernando at Easter for a parrilla Llanera, a genuine meat-fest which may even feature barbecued babo, a small freshwater caiman which is delicious accompanied with cachapa con queso – make sure you get one made with maiz blanco, the tastier variety of maize flour.

Ole!
