Tel Aviv is very safe to walk around with no drunken violence or muggers. Only the Russians drink to get drunk here and the rougher elements of Tel Aviv live around the central bus station which has a terrible reputation. This is a bit silly, really, when you compare it to anywhere that’s actually dangerous but maybe it’s not the best place for a woman to walk around alone at night.
The water from the taps is pretty bad but won’t kill you. That doesn’t mean it will make you stronger wither as the heavy metals build up in your blood. Mineral water is cheap, as are fruit juices which are sold everywhere. Avoid talking about politics in Tel Aviv as elsewhere in Israel.
Bombs in Tel Aviv
The Intifada naturally concentrates a good deal of its action on Tel Aviv and many bombs have gone off here in the last few years. Life goes on though and even when they put a bomb in the Carmel Market it was full again the day after. People have to buy cheap food. There’s nothing you can do to avoid getting targeted by a suicide bomber so don’t even think about it. yes, you could avoid riding the buses but really, you have more chance of getting run over.
Female travelers
Israeli guys can be quite forward and arsim in the street may occasionally make comments. Give as good as you get and just ask them why they’re so insecure about the size of their penises. It’s safe for women to walk around Tel Aviv at night but still it’s always best to keep to avoid dark area like car parks or waste ground.
