Getting there and away

The main airport of Ben Gurion is a 25 dollar taxi drive away from Tel Aviv but there are also buses which run along to the main station.

Hatachanah merkazit, the central bus station has buses, or better, collective vans called sheroots which go everywhere in the country. If you want a quiet but slightly slower journey go with the bus companies.

Tel Aviv Weather

The winter in Tel Aviv starts sometime in November/December and is all but over by the beginning of March. It can get down to about 6c. by night and you’re bound to have at least a week of solid rain, so important in a country this dry.

Spring is great here with the trees in blossom and people coming out to play after the winter but the heat starts fast with the Hamsin winds blowing in like a hair drier.

By summer the sea gets warm to swim in, though the jellyfish pay a visit for a few weeks. The worst though is the humidity which makes walking through Tel Aviv like taking a stroll through a pot of coking rice. You get out of the shower and you need another one. But then all the hottest bodies in the city are on full display…

There is no autumn. It stays hot through September and October until it rains and winter arrives in a day.
