Iran Work and Travel Guide

Even if you traveled in Iran without money it’s doubtful that you would be hungry for more than half an hour.

$500 a month would be plenty for a budget traveler though you could spend as much as you want to if you’re a fan of carpets and beautiful fabrics.

Work is not really an option as the visas are tough to come by. Assuming you had the right to stay it would be easy to get by teaching English.

Busking is one fun way to pay for your trip too. People will love you and will give generously. Choose places in the parks or the public squares. It’s a great way to meet people but watch out for the secret police.

You could also work getting commission by taking tourists to the carpet shops in places like Isfahan. You’d just need to drag them along to drink some tea and the Iranian merchants would do the rest. Your Western complexion gives you credibility in the eyes of the tourists.
