Travelers in Goa - Drugs and Trance

The main thing for the traveler in Goa is to keep some kind of balance. The Goa stories of police busts
, robberies
, flip outs and motorbike crashes can be all a bit much. Especially if you find yourself voyaging the stars on psychedelics you need to find calm, quiet space to give yourself some balance.

A good start is to find a quiet, shady place to live where you can wash your clothes and feet in the mornings without 500 Israeli travelers calling round to pack chillums
. You can go into the heat of the party scene any time you want but make your home outside it.

It’s great to have your own house in Goa. You fill it with mattresses, buckets and fluoro hangings and you have a home from home. You can have some cool times in your own place but it does make you more of a target for police and thieves so take care.

You don’t need to got to trance parties or take drugs- in Goa to have a good time. You can swim, eat good food, meet interesting people, make music, check out the sunsets and walk in the moonlight without going near the party scene.

Goa has got a lot tamer in recent years with more moneyed tourists arriving and the freaks departing for more isolated beaches but it’s still great. There are few places in the world where you can find three generations on a dancefloor and such an international mix of people from every conceivable background.

But don’t forget that there’s more to India than Goa. It would be tragic if you never ventured forth into the great sub-continent to have your mind blown by India’s chaos and diversity. Enjoy the sun, the beaches, the partiers and the drugs but don’t get stuck in Goa.
