Lima, Peru - Ugly, Crowded and Polluted

Peru, Lima

The rich districts of Lima

Lima is a foggy shit-hole, but can boast good food and drink with a pleasant climate. If you stay very long, though, your lungs will be black. It’s a city of 12 million people in a very poor country.

The beaches around Lima are decent, especially if you make friends with upper-class Peruvians who can take you to their private beaches, which are regularly cleaned. During the ‘summer’ (November- March), the beach is a great place to watch beautiful Latin bodies walk around on the beach in skimpy, Brazilian-style bathing suits and bikinis.

Lima is known for its excellent food selection, which of course includes ceviche and other seafood. Lima is tolerable in small doses, and is a good place to gear up for the mountains or the jungle as virtually every American store imaginable has a place there.

M.J Lloyd was born and raised on a small farm in rural Ohio. At the age of 18 he hit the road to Alaska with a meager savings and no plan. Over the next 2 years he wandered in search of real answers and a livable life. The journey has taken him through three continents, various loves, battles with the loneliness and insanity of the road, and extreme poverty. Though the lessons haven’t been easy, he has learned much from the trail, and has reached a much happier and more peaceful understanding on the nature of his life.
