It is possible to eat cheaply all over Uzbekistan. Filling staples such as plov, lagman (noodles and sauce), and manti (meat dumplings) feature on every menu. Shashlik (meat kebabs) are also very popular and found everywhere. Veggies will be ok as numerous salads, including spicy Korean salads, appear on menus.
Uzbeks go to restaurants to dance and be entertained as well as eat and drink. A typical joint will have a show programma featuring belly dancers and a blaring disco featuring a mix of international and local standards along with a good helping of Russian pop. Karaoke is also alarmingly popular.
