Hong Kong Hotels, Hostels & Appartments

Most hotel rooms in Hong Kong range in price from exorbitant to national debt of a small African country. However, shuffling past the showy named hotels can lead to bargain accommodations in Kowloon or the fringes of Hong Kong Island; just don’t expect space, comfort or amenities.

In a city renowned for cramped apartments, the few hostels and budget hotels provide unique features such as the ability to simultaneously touch opposite walls and framed puzzles, with or without all the pieces, serving as decoration.

The hostels will set you back between 150 HKD ($20US) to 450 HKD ($45US). Tight quarters and sparse ornamentation help ensure time is spent among Hong Kong’s dizzying amount of activities.

For longer stays, Hong Kong does offer a wide variety of serviced-apartments complete with linens and kitchen facilities (e.g. a small refrigerator and hot pot) – but even the cheapest will run about 4,000 HKD ($500 US) per month.
