The traveling photographer shouldn’t forget about the real world either. You can set up shop on the street or in a market with the best of your images, blown up to poster size for the public. You’ll be a novelty to the locals and you can cash in on this by having a sign that explains how you travel the world taking photos.

You’ll have to shell out for the printing of course and markets make you pay for your pitch. In addition you’ll have to think about the presentation of your stall – but then that should be a piece of piss for a visual artist like you.

The prices that your photos will bring in will vary and, as you can sell copies of the same photo many times over, will depend very much on how much people are prepared to pay. Remember, you’re worth as much as you feel. Still, you can bump prices up if you have some nice frames, too.

You might be reduced to wandering the streets and bars to sell your photos and a good option here is to print out postcards with your photos on the front. They’re fairly light to carry, have an obvious function and you can show a selection of your work at once. You can always then leave them at other shops or cafes to sell, giving a commission on each one.
