Photo Project

November 3, 2006.

Not a particularly special day, just one out of many we will live through, making of it what we choose, or not, depending on each of our situations. I have asked hundreds of people all around the world with all different lifestyles to take 10 photos of their day, on this date, and share them. I’m not exactly sure what the end product will be yet from this idea, but I know I would like to compile many people’s versions of one common day. Something about de-abstracting the unknown and humanising what would otherwise be novelty. The pictures don’t need to be amazing or even interesting, just a true representation of your day on November 3rd, whatever you’re seeing and experiencing. If you want to take more than ten and send your ten favourites, go for it. Feel free to interpret however you like. Just make sure it’s all from November 3rd, and give a one sentence caption or your thought at the time. Please make one of your photos a self-portrait of some kind so that the experiencer of the day is represented. Also, if you know people who might want to contribute, please share this with them. If you don’t have a digital camera, there’s probably one you can borrow, or just scan regular photos. Please email everything, including your name and where the day took place, to nov0306@gmail.com, and higher resolution images are best. Thanks so much for your help in this project. I’ll keep everyone who contributes posted on what comes of it.

So to recap:
1. check the date to make sure it’s November 3rd
2. take ten pictures, note the time and give a thought or caption for each
3. make one a self-portrait
4. send it all in hi-res, including who and where, to nov0306@gmail.com
5. consider yourself greatly thanked
