China Blue, documentary on sweat shops

You'll never complain about your job again

Just in case you wanted to know in what conditions of slavery your jeans were made in…

China Blue is an outstanding and tragic documentary that will make you never want to wear a pair of jeans again.

Micha Peled’s film was shot secretly inside a Chinese sweat shop where workers are made to slave all night to fulfill orders for ‘most respected foreign customers’. Conditions are cramped, bathroom breaks limited, workers go unpaid, fined or sacked if they complain.

Perhaps the most graphic scene though is when the Americans from the purchasing company come to visit. With big smiles and bowing at everything in sight, they ask the workers how are things and are delighted to hear everything is just fine. What else are they going to say with the boss standing next to them…
